Frequently asked questions.
What are your hours?
I work from 10am - 2:30pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
Sometimes I have an opening on Fridays at noon.
Can couples therapy be covered by insurance?
Yes, couples therapy is covered by most insurances. If you choose to work with insurance, one of you will have to be the “identified patient” on file. This means that one of you will be the main person that we’ll bill insurance services for. This will also mean that we’ll spend some extra time in the beginning gathering information about one of you, in addition to gathering information about what is happening in the relationship. An “identified patient” also has to have a diagnosis on file in (addition to the relational one) in order for us to bill services through insurance. It is because of this, that a lot of people choose to pay privately for couples therapy. Ultimately it is up to you. And I’m happy to answer more questions about this piece if you wish to know more.
How much do you charge per session?
The fee for a 50-minute session is $159, which is due the day of session.
If you choose to work with insurance, I am contracted to work with some insurance panels through a place I contract with called Wholehearted Healing. Insurances I currently work with are: Health Partners, BCBS, Ucare, Optum, United Health, UMR, and Aetna.
Do you work online or in person?
I currently offer all of my sessions via Telehealth.
Do we have to live in Minneapolis to work with you?
It depends on the kind of work that you are interested in doing together. If you are interested in individual or couples therapy, you have to be a resident of the state of Minnesota for us to work together. Therapists can only practice in the state that they are licensed in, and I am licensed to work in the state of Minnesota.
If you are interested in the relationship checkup, you may be a resident of any state, or any part of the world for that matter!
How is the checkup I offer different from the Gottman Relationship Checkup?
The main difference is that this experience is tailored to your relationship and experience. It’s kind of like reading a book on a topic vs. consulting with an expert on the same topic. The Gottman checkup will provide you with an assessment to your relationship, along with additional resources and information about enhancing a relationship.
You will go through the same assessment working with me, except the resources that you will get will be tailored for your specific relationship needs. You will also get my insight and get to ask questions most useful for you. Most people find that a tailored experience saves them time, saves them the hassle for trial and error, as well as offers guidance in what can be a daunting venture.
Ultimately, it boils down to what you feel like you are currently needing to support your relationship. If you want more of an informational experience, you may check out Gottman’s Relationship Checkup. If you are looking for an experience tailored to your specific needs, then this experience might be a better fit.
